Founded in 1948

Sif was founded in 1948 by Jan Jacob Schmeitz. For a long time, Sif was a family-owned business that produced tubular steel structures, including pressure vessels.

Founding of Sif
Jan Jacob Schmeitz establishes Sif.
1971
First location in Roermond
Sif builds its first office and production halls in Roermond.
2000
Focus on offshore
Sif sets a new course: shifting from pressure vessels to offshore foundations.
2002
First monopile
Sif manufactures its very first monopile.
2005
Egeria Capital joins
Investment company Egeria acquires 82.5% of Sif.
2015
Start construction Maasvlakte 2
Start of construction of the site on Maasvlakte 2 (Rotterdam) on a 42-hectare plot of land.
2016
Sif goes public
Sif is listed on Euronext Amsterdam.
2019
GE Haliade-X turbine
Commissioning of a 12 MW GE Haliade-X turbine at the Sif terminal.
2019
Site expansion Maasvlakte 2
Expansion of Maasvlakte 2 site to 62 hectares for marshalling & logistics.
2020
2,000th monopile
Sif delivers its two-thousandth monopile.
2021
Acquisition of KCI The Engineers
This partnership strengthens our capabilities with in-depth expertise in offshore engineering.
2021
Deep-sea quay & RoRo-quay
Extension of the deep-sea quay and construction of a RoRo quay.
2022
Partnership with GS Entec and 2,500th monopile
Partnership with GS Entec in Korea and production of the 2,500th monopile.
2023
Maasvlakte 2 expansion
Sif begins expanding its production facility and optimising the production process.
2024
New production line operational
The first new production line at Maasvlakte 2 is up and running.
2025
Official opening of Maasvlakte 2 expansion
On 14 May, Minister Sophie Hermans for Climate Policy and Green Growth officially opens the new production facilities.
