There are more than 1,000 transports of monopiles at Maasvlakte 2 every year. In addition, the Sif terminal, with its 600-metre-wide deep-sea quay and favourable location near the estuary, is very suitable as a logistics distribution point for third parties.
Logistics Services Operations Manager, Lando Bax, says, ‘The logistics field service has been expanded and we have a set of SPMTs (multiwheelers) with 44 axis lines that we operate ourselves. Our extra logistics services are well-received. Quay space is scarce, especially when it comes to the possibilities in terms of weight, storage, and location that we have here. Sailing more inland with large weights takes more time and involves more risks.'
We arrange crane assistance, storage, and transshipment for all wind turbine components, not just the foundations that we produce ourselves. In addition, we also arrange a safe mooring and coordination with the port authorities. It is primarily added value for clients, as our logistics services make the installation process more efficient.’
