Sif supports innovative Vibro-drill

Sif believes it is important to support projects that help make energy production more sustainable. At Maasvlakte, GBM Works is working together with partners on a pilot that tests a new, sustainable, and cost-effective method of installing monopiles that are used as the foundations for wind turbines. Sif has made a test plate and test site available for the pilot.

Haliade-X 12 MW

Rotterdam, Netherlands; April 1st, 2019. – Future Wind (the Joint Venture between Pondera Development and SIF Holding Netherlands) organized a symbolic ground-breaking event that took place in Maasvlakte, Rotterdam, to celebrate the start of preparatory activities to host GE’s Haliade-X 12 MW prototype in Maasvlakte, Rotterdam.

In response to the wind industry’s ambition to venture into deeper waters, lower the cost price, and generate more energy, stricter requirements are now being defined for coating. Added to that, the new design standard means that diameters will get bigger and the wall thicknesses of monopiles will be smaller. Given this new design trend, Sif has decided to adapt its production facilities in Roermond and the Maasvlakte.

The International Wind Energy Expo & Conference - abbreviated to Wind Expo - will take place between 27 February and 1 March 2019 in Tokyo, Japan. The choice of location is no accident – Japan is gradually making progress in the field of Offshore Wind in Asia, according to Peter Coppens, Manager New Business at Sif Netherlands. Sif will be there, and expects it to be a very interesting offshore wind energy expo.
