Blue Hammer

BLUE Piling Technology by Fistuca is an innovative technology that uses a combusted gas mixture to propel a column of water upwards. The column of water pushes the monopile down as it shoots up and drives the monopile further into the sea floor as it falls back down. The pile-driving technology produces much lower noise levels than conventional pile-driving and also minimizes fatigue to the foundation. The project will result in a direct reduction to the costs of installing wind turbines.

Offshore wind energy is becoming increasingly popular in Japan. However, Japanese and other Asian harbours are currently not equipped to deal with the large number of offshore wind foundations. There are just a handful of harbours that can carry the weights of offshore foundations heavier than 1,000 tonnes without requiring significant adjustments and investments.

The number of offshore wind farms has grown considerably in recent years. In Europe, offshore wind grew by 25% in 2017.

Sif manufactures steel foundation piles (monopiles) for oil and glass platforms and offshore wind farms. We supplied 136 steel tubulars for the foundation jackets for the Beatrice Offshore Wind Farm, which were installed by Seaway Heavy Lifting (SHL) in the North Sea off Scotland.
