Sif believes it is important to support projects that help make energy production more sustainable. At Maasvlakte, GBM Works is working together with partners on a pilot that tests a new, sustainable, and cost-effective method of installing monopiles that are used as the foundations for wind turbines. Sif has made a test plate and test site available for the pilot.
Offshore wind energy plays an important role in making our energy supply more sustainable. Through the GROW partnership, which unites the Dutch offshore wind industry and research partners, we at Sif are committed to increasing that role. As one of the founders of GROW, we are delighted that the Dutch Ministry of Economic Affairs and Climate Policy is giving us their full support.
Rotterdam, Netherlands; April 1st, 2019. – Future Wind (the Joint Venture between Pondera Development and SIF Holding Netherlands) organized a symbolic ground-breaking event that took place in Maasvlakte, Rotterdam, to celebrate the start of preparatory activities to host GE’s Haliade-X 12 MW prototype in Maasvlakte, Rotterdam.
In response to the wind industry’s ambition to venture into deeper waters, lower the cost price, and generate more energy, stricter requirements are now being defined for coating. Added to that, the new design standard means that diameters will get bigger and the wall thicknesses of monopiles will be smaller. Given this new design trend, Sif has decided to adapt its production facilities in Roermond and the Maasvlakte.
