Product Innovation

Country targets offshore wind are growing rapidly, therefore the roll-out of offshore wind is accelerating with supply chain bottlenecks becoming apparent. Sif is ahead of this by expanding and enhancing our monopile capacities and capabilities. Not only by creating more capacity by our investments in production capacity, but also by developing products that enable the monopile foundation concept to be deployed in even larger quantities whilst keeping cost down.

We strive to develop a monopile foundation concept that is designed to be produced in large quantities.

Therefore, we support technologies and develop products like Skybox, a carrier to accelerate TP-less foundations that facilitate the simplification of the monopile on which this TP-less and boat landing-less platform is mounted. Costs are driven down, installability is improved and the related monopile output is enhanced.

Other focus area of our product development department are:

  • Gentle driving of piles
  • Connection techniques between tower and foundation
  • Developing bottom fixed foundations for deeper waters (60-100m).

Our daughter company KCI The Engineers is actively deployed in order to develop these new products and services.

Our policy on product innovation is targeted to support the further deployment of monopile technology. With this in mind we support numerous start-ups and research projects as well as executing several internal innovative projects. We work closely with TU Delft, TNO and many other research institutes.

For the near future we have concluded that a 11-metre diameter monopile with a 120 mm maximum wall thickness creates a tipping point in terms of technical and economical feasibility. Gathering the actual production and production technology experience with these types of monopile dimensions is essential before we enter into projects with larger diameter / larger wall thicknesses.

Sif is focused at supporting the monopile in every possible manner, we are a total solution provider in monopiles, with all adjacent products and services such as marshalling and logistics

Process innovation

In today’s wind energy market, adaptibility to new requirements from customers is key.

Constantly increasing requirements on capacity throughput and quality levels have to be fulfilled. Therefore process innovation is a must to support the business case, certainty to customers. The process innovations at Sif are realized in different ways.
