Safety

Safety: our number one priority

Working safely starts with the choices we make every day. At Sif, we look ahead, speak up and take action when something is unsafe. This is how we make safety a shared part of our daily work.

SAFETY EVENT

At Sif, safety always comes first. That is why we devote significant attention to safety and safety awareness every year. This year, we will once again organise a Safety Event for all colleagues in Roermond and at Maasvlakte 2.

In recent years, we have done this through our Safety Days. During these days, work in both the factory and the offices came to a standstill, and Sif employees took part in a programme focused on recognising, managing and preventing workplace risks. Together with customers and suppliers, we worked towards an even safer and more pleasant working environment.

The Safety Days featured interactive workshops, practical tips and valuable discussions about working safely. Topics such as the 9 Life Saving Rules and the theme ‘See it, Say it, Solve it’ were covered in detail.

Safety will continue to have a permanent place on our agenda in the years ahead. Through an annual Safety Event, we will keep working together to strengthen awareness, knowledge and safe behaviour across Sif.

SAFETY CULTURE LADDER

To further strengthen safety, it is important that we not only have the right people, resources and methods in place, but also continue to focus on clarity, behaviour and collaboration. The Safety Culture Ladder (SCL) helps us understand how safety and health are embedded within Sif and where we can continue to develop.

The Safety Culture Ladder consists of five steps, which you can see on the left.

Sif has a solid foundation and is currently at step 2. Our ambition is to progress to step 3 in 2027.

SHEQ Policy

Safety, health, environment and quality (SHEQ) are important parts of our day-to-day operations. Through our SHEQ policy, we ensure a safe, responsible and high-quality way of working.

The Executive Board is responsible for implementing and safeguarding the policy. Employees, contractors and partners are expected to actively contribute to it.

Our SHEQ policy focuses on, among other things:

  • Complying with laws and regulations
  • Identifying and managing risks
  • Providing safe and healthy working conditions
  • Training, awareness and competence
  • Preventing and reporting incidents and unsafe situations
  • Reducing our environmental impact
  • Meeting quality and customer requirements
  • Continuously improving and learning from one another

Together, we create a safe, healthy and sustainable working environment.
