Sustainability
Sustainable in everything we do
The foundations of offshore wind farms are made from high-quality steel, which is highly recyclable. At Sif, we develop solutions to recover and repurpose used monopiles and other components. Together with partners like Dillinger Hütte, we are taking steps towards a circular supply chain—from low-emission steel to the reuse of existing foundation parts. In this way, we help close the loop for offshore wind.
At Sif, we build foundations for offshore wind farms—and in doing so, we help build a sustainable future. We consciously align our activities with the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) and steer towards ESG targets (Environmental, Social and Governance) that contribute to the energy transition, a safer working environment, and greater social responsibility.
Our contribution to tomorrow’s world
Sustainable Development Goals
We support the energy transition, create a safe and future-focused working environment, and prioritise innovation and circular production. Through our commitment to SDGs 7, 8, 9, 12 and 13, we contribute to a cleaner and fairer world.
Our monopile foundations accelerate the growth of offshore wind energy, making sustainable energy more accessible.
We create high-quality jobs and invest in safety and development. Our roles require expertise and responsibility, are innovation-driven, future-proof, and come with strong employment conditions. We make a meaningful contribution to society and the economy - now and in the future. All employees receive regular training via our Learning Management System.
Innovation is in our DNA. From TP-less monopiles to circular steel initiatives, our monopiles form the backbone of a sustainable offshore infrastructure.
We reduce waste streams and focus on circular partnerships for green steel.
We are taking concrete steps towards climate neutrality:
Scope 1 & 2 CO₂ neutral by 2030
By replacing gas-fired installations with electric alternatives, we reduce our direct emissions (scope 1).
By 2030, we aim to source all our electricity from renewable sources (scope 2).
Scope 3 CO₂ neutral steel usage by 2045
We are reducing indirect CO₂ emissions across our entire supply chain - from steel suppliers to transporters and customers. Our logistics partner now uses HVO100 biofuel, cutting emissions by nearly 90%.
Sustainability as our foundation
ESG
At Sif, we work with respect for people, the environment, and society. We reduce our CO₂ emissions, invest in our people, and strengthen transparency within our organisation. ESG is not just a reporting framework for us—it’s a natural part of how we build trust, progress, and a better future every day.
Our sustainability strategy is built on clear goals, transparent progress, and measurable impact.
Zero gas use for preheating by 2026
75% of our electricity from renewable sources by 2026, partly thanks to our own wind turbine
With ISO 50001 certification, we follow a structured energy management plan: monitoring usage, setting measurable targets, and implementing improvements
Green steel and circular steel flows: through partnerships, we are making the entire chain more sustainable
33% gender diversity in the Supervisory Board and Management Team by 2026
All employees trained via our LMS platform by 2026
LTIF (Lost Time Injury Frequency) below 0.75 by 2026
Operating in line with our Code of Conduct (safety, fairness, transparency, and respect for people, processes, and partners) and related policies
ESG guidelines (sustainability, social responsibility, and good governance) integrated into supplier relationships
Transparent reporting and continuous embedding of integrity and compliance: acting consciously in line with laws, standards, and our own code of conduct
Moving forward together
At Sif, we build for sustainable growth - not just for today, but especially for tomorrow. We do this by taking concrete steps towards the SDGs and our ESG goals.
Our foundation is solid and clear:

- We take responsibility for the environment and for the health, safety, and wellbeing of our people.
- Our core values and Code of Conduct form the basis of our culture.
- In our first EcoVadis assessment, we earned a silver medal and rank among the top 15% of sustainable companies worldwide.
