TP-less monopiles
TP-less monopiles are foundations without a transition piece. The wind turbine tower is mounted directly onto the top flange of the monopile. This makes the design simpler and smarter.
There’s no need for an offshore bolted connection between the monopile and a transition piece. Secondary steel components – such as ladders and boat landings – are mounted directly onto the monopile, reducing the amount of steel used. This approach saves time, materials and therefore costs, without compromising on safety or quality.
Smart design requires close collaboration
A TP-less design demands close cooperation between our engineering, production and project teams. Thanks to our integrated approach, in-house engineering and experience with large-scale projects, we are well equipped to deliver TP-less solutions safely and efficiently. The design itself is always provided by external engineers, which means internal coordination is key – as is strong collaboration with external partners.
Sif pioneered TP-less monopiles: we produced the very first projects without a transition piece. That experience informs every new TP-less project we take on.
TP-less monopiles are typically 20 to 30 metres longer than conventional variants. As a result, there’s no need for a double layer of primary steel around the flange connection. This saves weight and makes transport and installation more efficient.

For welding attachments and the secondary steel package, we work with Smulders. This ensures control over quality and logistics. The extra length of our monopiles also allows for innovations such as Skybox.
That added length makes TP-less monopiles heavier. For us as a manufacturer, that’s no issue. But installation requires modern vessels and smart offshore planning. That’s exactly why we developed Skybox.

Skybox is an innovative solution developed by Sif to further improve TP-less designs. No welded brackets, no boat landing, no ladder. Skybox is installed in a single lift, without special tools. This speeds up construction and reduces costs.
