The foundation of offshore wind energy

The foundation of offshore wind energy

Monopiles

Since 2002, Sif has been a frontrunner in monopile foundations for offshore wind farms. We’ve produced over 2,600 monopiles and secured contracts for more than 2,900 foundations – contributing to 55 wind farms, mainly across Europe.

This way, we help green the electricity mix. Our foundations support 22.7 GW of installed offshore capacity – enough to power around 23 million households each year. That means we serve over a third of the European market.

Our monopiles are the backbone of offshore wind energy. These tubular steel structures reach up to 120 metres in length, measure 11 metres in diameter and weigh a maximum of 2,000 tonnes each. They ensure wind turbines stand firm and deliver energy under all conditions. We manufacture in Roermond and at Maasvlakte 2, continuously improving our production process, safety and environmental impact.

We supply both traditional monopiles with transition pieces and TP-less monopiles. With our monopile solutions, we make a vital contribution to accelerating the energy transition.

Thanks to our central location, direct sea access and high production speed, we are the go-to partner for wind farm developers.
