Roermond, 8 August 2022. On 7 August, around midnight, Sif faced a gas explosion in their production location at Roermond while works were ongoing. One employee was taken to hospital for observation. The fire brigade and gas network owner Enexis have investigated the incident and gave clearance this morning. The production location is partly closed until investigations are finalized.
There is no risk for local residents close to the production location and observable material damage is limited to Sif properties.
The colleague has been discharged from the hospital since August 9.
The production has been operational again since August 10 and work in the affected hall is being started step by step.
A set of measures has been implemented to offer colleagues a safe workplace.
The investigation into the cause is still ongoing.
