The first FAT tests of the first two fit-up stations
A lot is already happening behind the scenes for P11. Multiple expert teams have been preparing for the expansion of our factory on the Second Maasvlakte for months. Machines have been selected and are being tested, and we are busy looking for new colleagues. In this short update, the progress of Pemamek’s first two fit-up stations.
The production process in the new halls on the Maasvlakte is taking shape!
After more than three years of preparation, the time had finally come; the first Factory Acceptance Test (FAT) of our first two welding machines. On March 4 and March 5, Jeroen Kaarsemaker, Martin Lammers, Ben Koonen, Anthony Nelissen and Wouter Nadorp visited Pemamek in Finland for the FAT of our new welding machines. This was an important step to see if everything that was conceived on the drawing board also worked in practice.
In total, Pemamek manufactures six welding machines made exclusively for Sif, with the aim of welding plates together in a flat state.
After two days full of testing and asking questions, we have good news: after some minor adjustments, the test was successful. Due to Pemamek's helpfulness, knowledge and expertise, the latest adjustments have been made, and both machines are ready to be transported to the Maasvlakte.
Because the machines are too large to be transported at once, they come to us disassembled in several trucks. They are expected to arrive at the Maasvlakte in April. The machines are then assembled in our factory and a Site Acceptance Test (SAT) takes place. This will take place on July 31st.
